Amazing 'Benefit' Deal In June 2013's 'Elle' Magazine!

Hey!
In maths, I sit next to a girl called Molly. Most maths lessons we tend to ask stupid questions, joke around and talk about make-up. On Tuesday, I asked Molly what mascara she used. Her eyelashes looked thick, long and defined. Most importantly, they looked extremely real.
She told me about the latest addition of 'Elle' magazine and that the free gift was a mini 'Benefit They're Real' mascara. Yes, you heard me right. That was the mascara she was wearing that day and, from that, I knew moment that I had to have it.

I won't lie, I have wanted 'Benefits They're Real' mascara for a long time. But, as anyone who has ever looked at Benefit knows, nothing they sell is 'cheap'. So, when I heard about this deal I had to have it.
The magazine itself costs £4.00. The mascara costs £9.50. Yeah, you can do the math. Also, in the magazine, you get a sample of the 'Clarins BB Skin Perfecting Cream'.

Think about it: you get a magazine, a mini mascara and a sample of a BB cream for £4.00. Even if you don't read the magazine, you still get an amazing deal. Where can you go wrong?
Don't thank me, thank Molly.

Get Your Freak On Tag (Chemistry Revision Procrastination)!

Hey!
I have a chemistry exam in 2 days and, instead of revising, I am writing a blog post. As you can see I am well aware of were my priorities are.
Anyway, instead of revising, I am going to be doing the 'Get Your Freak On' tag.

The Get Your Freak On Tag!

1.What's a nickname only your family calls you?
My family calls me Jessica-Wessica. Yeah, it is weird, I know.

2.What's a weird habit of yours?
I weird habit of mine is when I eat a bagel that is completely plain (has no filling on it) I split it into quarters, I eat the 'skin' of it first and then squash down the bread until its flat. I physically can not eat a plain bagle without doing this.

3.Do you have any weird phobias?
I am scared of the pole on a high jump. I know it is a stupid thing to be scared of but I can jump on the high jump bed if the poles not there. If the poles there I stop out of fear before I even reach the pole.

4.What song do you secretly blast when no ones around?
I secretly blast Lollipop by Lil' Wayne when no one is around (Song linked).

5. What is one of your biggest pet peeves?
I can not stand noisy eaters. My older brother is the loudest eater ever. If we are in the same room when he is eating I either have to leave the room or I sit there slowly moving away from him and cringing.

6. What's one of your nervous habits?
Unfortunately, I am a nail biter. When I am nervous or worried about something I bite my nails. It sucks.

7. What side of the bed do you sleep on?
As I have a single bed, I sleep in the middle facing the wall. When I am sleeping in a double bed I tend to sleep on the side nearest the door.

8. What was your stuffed animal as a kid and what was its name?
I still have my childhood stuffed animal. Mine is a stuffed Winnie The Pooh and his name is Winnie (not very imaginative, I know).

9. When your out what drink do you always order?
I don't like coke unless its from one of those machines. You know, the ones were the coke is half coke and half water. So, if a place has one of those machines, I order coke. If they don't, I order a Mango and Passionfruit J20.

10. What beauty rule do you preach, but never practice?
I always tell everyone to never use a brush to brush through their hair when it is wet. The problem is I always use a brush. I know your meant to use a wide tooth comb but my hair is far to tangled for that. If I use a wide tooth comb, I end up with a head ache and less hair then I started with.

11. Which way do you face in the shower?
I face towards the wall that the shower heads on unless I am washing my hair, in which case, I face away from the shower head.

12. Do you have any 'weird' body skills?
I have what is known as 'Hitch-Hikers Thumb' in both of my thumbs. It basically means I am double-jointed in my thumbs and can bend my thumbs quite far back, further than a normal person.
The difference between a regular thumb and a hitch-hikers thumb. Although I can get my thumb to go a lot further back than that.
This is pretty much how far back I can get my thumb to go without it hurting.

13. What is your favourite comfort food that is 'bad' but you love to eat it anyway?
For me, this is a tie between:
-Brownies
-Jaffa cakes
-Cookies (those fresh baked ones that a really soft. You know, the ones you get from the bakery section in supermarkets)
-Oreos
-Chocolate (any kind. I am really not that fussy when it comes to chocolate)
-Pringles (Texas BBQ Sauce flavour)
-Ice Cream (either Cornish Vanilla Ice Cream, Mint Choc Chip Ice Cream or any Ben&Jerry's Ice Cream)
Sorry, you can't make me pick. They all taste too good.

14. What's the phrase that you always say?
I am one of those 'annoying bitches' that quotes the movie 'Mean Girls' at ever opportunity they get. My favourite ones are:
-'She doesn't even go here...'
-'4 for you Glen Coco, you go Glen Coco'
-'Your a mean girl (insert name here), your a bitch'
-'*Cough* *Cough* I'm sick'

15. Time to sleep, what are you actually wearing?
When I sleep I either wear a vest top type thing with shorts or a big, over sized shirt.

16. What did you used to wear that you thought was cool but now realise it wasn't that great?
I went through a stage where all I wore were leggings and long tops. They look cute on occasion when your having a 'lazy' day but everyday is a BIG no-no.

Wish me luck on my chemistry exam.

Catering Practical Exam 2013: Afternoon Tea!

Hey!
So, if you go to school in the UK, you will know that it is 'official' exam season. Yes boys and girls, that means exams and revision are pretty much all anyone does. As I am only in my first year of my GCSE's, I only have 4 exams this year: 1 biology, 1 chemistry, 1 physics and 1 catering practical.
Today (Monday the 13th of May 2013), was my catering practical exam. This exam is 20% of my overall grade. Our task was to make 4 dishes for an afternoon tea. At least one of these dishes had to be savoury and we had to make these dishes in 3 hours.
I thought I would share pictures of my final dishes. I have tried really hard to avoid putting my schools information into these pictures so that is why the angles may be weird, ect. Also, I would really appreciate it if you over looked the messy backgrounds as exams are stressful and sometimes cleaning up slips your mind when your under pressure (name that song anyone?).

Jess's Jabbers: Job Hunting, Twilight Fan-Fiction, 1000 Views And Exam Jitters!

Hey!
I am sorry my posts have been few and far between recently. I have no excuse really. All I can say is school is killing me and job hunting sucks. Forgive me?

I have started looking for a job. My first ever job. I have been handing out CV's and looking online for weekend jobs in my town but, so far, I have had no luck. All I have had is a hair dressers saying that they might be looking for someone soon and, if they think I would be good for it, they will give me a call. But I am not giving up. I am determined to get a job before summer rolls around, so wish me luck.

I have an obsession with Twilight fan-fiction. Strangely enough, this is not because I love twilight. Actually I am not that much of a fan anymore. I loved the books for a while but the films kinda wrecked the magic of it for me. Recently, though, I have an obsession with Twilight fan-fiction. I really love story's about the mafia because I am fascinated by the mafia, for some reason. I have a little bank going of story's I want to read and I really love reading them. All I can say is don't knock it until you've tried it.

I have recently reached 1000 views for this blog. I know that that's not a lot for some people but for me its more then I ever thought I would get. I just want to say thank you to ever one who has viewed my blog. When I started this blog in October I never thought I would even get 100 views never mind 1000. So thank you for that.

I have a few exams coming up in the next 2 ish months. I am most worried about my Science exams but I also have my catering practical exam as well. Science is not my strongest point and, although my target grade is a 'B', I have opted to do the foundation exam. I am stressing out about it like mad and am extremely worried that I am going to 'bomb' all of them. Although I have exams I am going to keep trying to post on this blog as regularly as I can.

Sorry this post was so short, just wanted to drop in to tell you that I am not dead.

The 'I Love Music' Tag!

Hey!
Today I thought I would do the 'I Love Music' tag because, basically, I love music. Just as quick note you can listen to each song I mention by clicking on the place where I mention it.

The 'I Love Music' Tag!

1. Why do you like music?
I like music because it relax's me and makes me happy. Also, some song lyrics inspire me and others relate perfectly to some situations in my life.

2. What song inspires you?

3. What song makes you feel sexy?

4. Whats your favourite song of all time?

5. Which song is your guilty pleasure?

6. What song makes you cry?
This song is about a little boy who died of cancer. He was born 3 months after my little brother and my little brother also battled with cancer (thankfully he won that battle). Because of all of this, this song is very close to my heart.

7. What song do you hate?
I can't think of a song that I hate. So I am just going to assume I don't have one.

8. What song reminds you of your childhood?
The Tide Is High by Atomic Kitten.

9. Favourite Genre Of Music?
My favourite genre of music would be a mix between pop, rap, dance and alternative music.

10. Favourite Song Right Now?
Lollipop by Lil Wayne.

11. If one song was to describe you, what song would it be?
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper.
I picked this song because, when I get asked this question, it is the first song that comes to mind. I think I am an extremely bubbly person who is never to serious. I think I live to have fun and I am my happiest when I am around people.

What song would describe you?

School Rules Are Stupid!

Hey!
I have been in the UK education system for 11 years now and, to be honest, it sucks.
Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy learning. The problem is not the education, it is the way we do it.
The depressing brick walls, plain brown paint, plastic chairs and stupid rules are the parts of our education system that I don't understand .
No make-up, no non-natural hair colours, no nail varnish, no non-black shoes, no earrings that cover your ear lobes or dangle, no phones, no chewing gum. It is a load of bullshit. Please explain to me how my nails being purple is going to distract the rest of my school from their education? Or how my white converse are going to damage the schools reputation? How is my dip-dyed hair going to make me fail my GCSE's?
What gets to me most is our 'no phones' rule.
When I was in year 8 (aged 13), I got permission to go to the bathroom during period 5 Religious Education. To get into the bathroom in lesson's, you have to get the key from reception. So, I strolled over to reception and ask for the key and, the lovely but slightly dumb, receptionist tells me that there is already a girl in the bathroom with the key. She then tells me to go to the bathroom because, as she said, there is already a girl there. I go to the bathroom and the girl who is in there is in one of the stalls. I go into one of the stalls not making any noise (I don't like using the bathroom with other people it freaks me out (don't ask)). I come back out, wash my hands and then start to look for the key to lock the door on my way out. But I can't find the key. I just assume she is still in one of the stalls and head for the door. But the doors locked. I then check the stalls to see if she is still here (I thought that maybe a teacher could have locked the door or something) but she is not here. Then it dawns on me, I was locked in. I banged on the door for a while after I realised that it was last lesson and the cleaners would not be coming till 6pm to clean the bathroom. Obviously no one heard me banging on the door because everyone was in lessons. Then it dawned on me, I had my phone. I could ring the school office and tell them what happened. They would then send someone to get me out of the bathroom. This was a great plan until I remembered that I did not know the school's telephone number. So I came up with a plan. I rung my mum, told her what happened and asked her to ring the school to tell them what happened and where I was. About 5 minutes after I rung my mum, 2 office members come running up to the door to unlock it. After they unlocked it they started were asking is I was okay and if I needed to sit down and have a drink of water. I swear these bitches thought I was dying. I politely passed and went back to my R.E lesson where I had to explain to my teacher and my class where I was for over half the lesson.
In that situation my phone 'saved' me. If I had not of had my phone I would have been in there till 6pm and then would have had to try and explain to people why my mum had sent out a search party to look for me (my mum is a bit over protective). The fact that school has a 'no phones' rule is stupid to me. I know schools are meant to be 'safe' places but news over the years has shown that sometimes they are not.
What school rules do/did you think are/were stupid?
